INTRODUCTION
Glenn Terpstra is a multidisciplinary designer and educator whose work bridges the worlds of art, technology, and social engagement. With a background in integrated visual arts and digital media, his practice spans graphic design, motion graphics, large scale installations, and data driven experiences. Whether working on augmented reality, spatial storytelling, or intelligent environments, Glenn explores how visual communication can shape culture and human understanding.
He holds an MFA in Integrated Visual Arts from Iowa State University and a BFA from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, with additional studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands. At California State University, Fresno, Glenn teaches courses in digital design, interactive media, and user experience while mentoring student led projects that focus on sustainability, public advocacy, and social justice.
Working with the Social Justice Poster Project, Intelligent Interior Design Framework, and downtown revitalization efforts reflect a strong commitment to community based and research driven design. Glenn has exhibited nationally and internationally, with recent installations in California and digital environments. His work has been published in the APHA Printing History Journal and conference proceedings on human computer interaction and gallery innovation.
As a former US Green Building Council chapter president and active member of AIGA and CCL, he remains deeply engaged in both environmental advocacy and creative leadership. Glenn helped establish a Visualization Lab to foster student research and engagement through future focused human-centric design. This has resulted in several public displays of contemporary design applications/solutions across a variety of environments and helps further design based on the Intelligent Interiors Design Framework. Whether designing immersive environments or empowering students to use design as a civic tool, Glenn brings a bold, systems-thinking approach to the future of design.
Long term goal: Establish community based art centers to provide alternative methods of education and cultural advancement.
