Jung Dream Study

This series attempts to unify precise and measurable data with a traditional intaglio printmaking process in order to provide a connection between the visual narrative and the subject--humanizing data as a result.

The print process begins with an Illustrator file comprised of line paths based on a scanned drawing. This document is then sent to a laser cutter where these lines become etched into an acrylic sheet. Depending on the depth the groves are cut to determines how much ink they will hold when printing. This exploration is intended to combine a traditional printmaking process with the advantages of emerging technology.

Once cut and beveled the acrylic plate is hand rendered with an etching needle and burin to produce tonal range and the hand etched feel.

The series also explores the use of a collagraph plate and the a la poupée technique.
